French Minister Gerald Darmanin has touted the fact that only 690 vehicles were set on fire over New Year's this year. 

French anti-terrorist police arrested a man in his 40s who is believed to have been behind at least sixty car burnings since 2017.

A French elected official has decided to resign after her car was set on fire twice outside her home within a period of just five months. 

Authorities say 874 cars were burned and 441 people were arrested on New Year's Eve, a time traditionally associated with violence in France.
