Dear Readers: As is my routine, I headed downtown today to watch the Veterans Day Parade. If you also were downtown and saw a replica of a ship being pulled behind a pickup, you might have wondered about that ship, the USS Edmonds. A number of years ago, so did another one of my readers.

Father Aidan J. Walsh, a priest of the archdiocese since his incardination on May 15, 1998, died in Boston on March 4, 2023. He was born in the Hub's Jamaica Plain section on Jan. 21, 1940. He was the last surviving of the eight children of the late John and Elizabeth (Gill) Walsh; among his deceased siblings was a sister, Sister Mary (Donatus) Walsh, CSJ.

As I left off last week, we had just completed our events around the March for Life. We were so pleased to be able to resume our participation after the hiatus of last year and gather with hundreds of thousands of advocates for life who came to Washington. It was also a great joy that a good number were able to come from our schools and parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston, once again.

It might seem odd for a lad from Milton who was ordained a priest in Rome on Dec. 16, 1964, that he would spend 50 years of active priestly ministry in two inner city Boston parishes, but that would be Father Walter J. Waldron.
