On behalf of the World Vision team in West Africa, our Regional Leader Carla Denizard sends season's greetings and happy holiday wishes to all our staff, partners, donors, and supporters from across the region and beyond.

There is a new flavour in the air in Africa. Women are now finding their voice and space in the critical sectors of our society.

The 2023 summit aspires to position Africa as the place for innovation, investments, and to advance a stronger, more diverse, and resilient food system. It will also look to energise and spotlight continental progress beyond the call for aid, and showcase Africa’s solutions to Africa’s food systems transformation while spotlighting leadership, accountability, inclusion and investment opportunities in Africa in general and in Tanzania in particular.

A coalition of international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) has revealed that over 58 million people, including 29 million children, are facing acute food crises across West and Central Africa.

Senegal, Dakar, 16 October – 58 million people1 across West and Central Africa, including nearly 29 million children, are now acutely food insecure and in need of urgent food assistance, says an alliance of leading international NGOs in the region....

An additional 11 million people could be pushed to hunger just over the next three months.

As the humanitarian situation in the central Sahel continues to worsen for millions in crisis, World Vision joins the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) and other partners across West Africa to call for urgent action particularly for children, who are disproportionately affected by violence and conflict. Our West Africa Regional Leader, Carla Denizard, speaks on some of the challenges that Sahelian communities are faced with.
