A surfer in Australia caused a stir when he was spotted with a carpet python wrapped around his neck while surfing. Although it is legal to keep pythons as pets, the surfer did not have the necessary permit to take the snake out in public. The Queensland Department of Environment and Science explained that snakes are not typically found in water as they are cold-blooded creatures, and the python would have found the ocean water too cold.

“One day I decided to take her out for a surf and she loved it,” the surfer said.
