NEW YORK – The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) has opened an investigation into the death of Carson Dobson, who died on December 24, 2021, following an encounter with members of the New York State Police (NYSP) and the Village of Dolgeville Police Department. 

State police say Trooper Justin Miller, a five-year state police veteran, fatally shot Mark Beilby on Dec. 22 after responding to a domestic dispute.

Carson Dobson, a 24-year-old allegedly armed with a knife and sword was shot and killed by police after allegedly breaking into a home and stabbing the victim.

The stabbing suspect who was fatally shot by a state trooper in Dolgeville allegedly attacked his mother prior to his death, according to the state attorney general’s office.
