The Nevada Appeal, the Silver States oldest continuously run newspaper, first published on May 16, 1865.

Carson High debate wrapped up the regular competition season as Elko High School. This tournament saw 13 schools and 164 individual competitors. Fourteen members of the team advanced to final rounds in speech events.

The Hop and Mae Adam’s Foundation will temporarily donate several of its downtown Carson City parking lots to help charities raise money over the Nevada Day weekend. The charities will be collecting $5 donations for vehicle parking on Nevada Day in parking lots owned and maintained by the Foundation.

Several hundred plants spanning 60 varieties, including vegetables, squash, strawberries, melons, cucumbers, herbs, and perennial and annual flowers will be available May 7 at Carson City’s Greenhouse Project behind Carson High School.
