The Carson City Symphonys free Strings in the Summer, a six-week program for string players of all ages, begins Monday, June 8, at Carson Mall under the direction of Symphony Education Director Sue Jesch. Three classes are offered each week. Classes meet from 10 to 11 a.m. and each class features at least one new tune.

It’s a good weekend to be a kid: the Kerak Shrine Circus is in town! Well, it’s in Reno, but that isn’t too far of a drive for elephants, clowns, and cotton candy. Also in Reno, but intended for a slightly older audience, is the Lady Luck Tattoo and Art Expo, coincidentally held at Circus Circus.

It is finally Friday. As August melts away, it brings us closer to the new school year. Carson High returning students are invited to the Senator Kick-off this morning to get their fill of back-to-school updates.

April is a beautiful and busy month for CHS as the high school put on The Friendship Ball on April 5, Under the Sea Father Daughter Ball on April 6, and Prom on April 7.
