Heading into Monday and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday were looking at cloudy skies with a daytime high around 50 degrees. City, state and federal offices are closed as are schools. Friends of the Carson City Librarys Browsers Book Store at 711 East Washington St., is open from noon to 5 p.m.

Carson High School is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Connor Beattie Alumni Bowl, scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. This event honors the memory of Connor Beattie, a former CHS student athlete who passed away, and celebrates his love for Carson High Football.

Heading into Monday, Presidents Day, were looking at sunny skies and a high near 55. Being a federal holiday, local, state and federal offices are closed, as are schools and banks.

The Nevada State Fair will be back in Carson City June 2-5 with a carnival at Mills Park among other events. Each day the fair and carnival will be accessible from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Mills Park, located at 1111 E. William Street.

After a rash of violence at LAUSD schools, parents have organized a petition demanding the return of police on school campuses.
