Today is Veterans’ Day: a day to commemorate the men and women of the Armed Forces that have fought, and possibly died, for our country. Thank you for your service. Several places around town are offering something special for our Veterans today: free coffee, free breakfast, free lunch, etc. You’ll need to bring proof of service.

Whoo-hoo Wednesday. June First brings the inaugural Wednesday Evening Farmers Market to downtown. Look for it at Third Street after 4 p.m. The Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is at the Community Center: the Sheriff’s Office vs. the Fire Department.

Welcome to Wednesday, Carson City. One day closer to the weekend, and one day closer to June. Carson City truly shines in the summertime with events like the Taste of Downtown, Blinky Man, and the Fathers’ Day Powwow at the Stewart Indian School. New to hit downtown this year is Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly: sure to be a fun time.

Did everyone catch the giant double rainbow last night? Our wacky weather does make for some amazing skies. Sunsets of orange, purple, red, and fuchsia are commonplace if we happen to look up at the right time. Today will be another partly cloudy day, so keep your camera handy if you want to capture some great skies yourself.

Whoo-hoo for Wednesday. The week keeps plugging along and the temperatures are rising. Head to McFadden Plaza for this afternoon’s Farmers Market; they are almost over for the year. Keep close to downtown and take advantage of the Brewers Cabinet Tap Takeover of the Firkin and Fox. Grab the mic at SlotWorld’s karaoke night.

The leaves are changing, and the sweaters are coming out for the season. Chilly days are perfect for curling up with a good book: meet a local author at the Douglas Library this evening, you never know if youll find a new favorite. Scott Tazbir has moved into the Backseat Gallery at Comma Coffee.

I hope everyone is feeling okay this morning; lots of fun was had throughout town yesterday. Please be aware that schoolchildren are celebrating Nevada Moves Day today, and there will be several little ones walking or biking to school.
