Today has a lot going for it. Food Truck Friday is the theme of the new United Federal Credit Union’s Grand Opening week: you can find them across the street from Mill’s Park on Williams St. Earth Day weekend kicks off at Western Nevada College with a Gem and Mineral Sale during the day, followed by a presentation by World Renowned Scientist: Dr.

Exterior renovations on The Offices at Carson Station are complete, bringing an extensive yearlong project to a close.

Get over the mid-week hump with some live music. Dave Leather will entertain with some lunchtime Americana and Blues at Comma Coffee. The weekly Jazz Jam at Sassafras will see Rick Metz and his group First Take. Enjoy the tunes at Living the Good Life, Z Bistro, or Glen Eagles during dinner.

Don’t be scared. I know you’re going to take one look at this list and get overwhelmed with all the things going on in the area. I’ve written an overview of some of the bigger things here, but take a look below for a complete list of everything that the Carson City area offers.

The leaves are beginning to turn, but the nice weather is still holding out. Autumn is a beautiful time of the year in Carson City. Enjoy the sunshine with Supervisor Karen Abowd; her monthly walkabout leaves the Community Center steps at noon.

Derek Pettis received a sentence of life in prison with a chance for parole after 40 years. Now, after an update to state laws on "youth offender" status, Pettis has been granted parole more than a decade earlier than the family expected.
