Visitors to the Penn State University Park campus on Saturday, May 13, can expect to see lights at Old Main, the Bryce Jordan Center and The Arboretum at Penn State go dark in observance of World Migratory Bird Day.  

A pumpkin-carving contest and lighted jack-o'-lantern display will highlight The Arboretum at Penn State's annual Pumpkin Festival Oct. 7 and 8 in the Arboretum's H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens.

A pumpkin-carving contest and lighted jack-o'-lantern display will highlight The Arboretum at Penn State's annual Pumpkin Festival Oct. 7 and 8 in the Arboretum's H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens.

Casey Sclar, executive director of the American Public Gardens Association, has been named H.O. Smith Endowed Director of The Arboretum at Penn State. His appointment will begin in August 2022.

“I want to bring people, plants, partnerships, and pollinators together with my passion for the art, science, and business of horticulture, and lead The Arboretum at Penn State to its brightest future,” Sclar said in a release.
