Economist Sam Tappen said the Kenai Peninsula has fared better than the rest of the state in rebounding from the post-pandemic recession.

During one of the first panels of the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District’s Industry Outlook Forum, held Thursday, April 25, in Soldotna, Sam Tappen, an economist with the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development, shared insights and outlooks on the state’s job and labor markets — saying that the Kenai Peninsula has unique opportunities and a healthier outlook than much of the state.

When Tim Dillon steps down as head of the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District at the end of the month, he’ll be handing the reigns over to a familiar face. Cassidi Cameron currently manages special projects for the organization — a nongovernment group with a stated mission of enhancing the quality of life for borough residents through responsible and sustainable economic development.
