President Joe Biden is set to announce the establishment of national monuments in Nevada, Texas and Hawaii at a White House summit on conservation action .

The Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in Nevada preserves land considered sacred to Native American tribes. The Castner Range National Monument near El Paso includes a former Army artillery range and testing ground in the Chihuahuan Desert.

By designating Castner Range as a national monument, we’re ensuring majority-minority communities like ours have access to America’s great outdoors.

The designation will provide communities that have historically had less access to public lands with opportunities to experience nature and explore, the White House said. Biden directed Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to consider initiating a new marine sanctuary designation for all U.S. waters around the Pacific Remote Islands.
