Striper numbers continue to increase with bass up to 35 inches being taken on soft plastics, flies and spoons.

Salmon and lakers are chasing rainbow smelt in shallow, while pike and smallmouth bass take jerkbaits and chatterbaits.

The cod bite has been joined by pollock and haddock, while inshore, mackerel schools have moved in close again putting migrating stripers within easy reach.

Cod fever continues with good action at Jeffrey’s Ledge, while tuna are being found regularly feasting on sea herring around Scantum.

Big bass up to 50 inches are smashing herring along area beaches, while bottom fishing around Jeffrey’s Ledge has been producing haddock, hake, pollock and cod.

Recent rainfalls have pushed bait and bass out onto beaches and rocky points.

Roving packs of bass are moving along area beaches picking off mackerel chunks as well as clams on the bottom.

Anglers are landing big blues on topwater plugs, bigger bass remain by the Isles of Shoals as well as off Kennebunkport, while offshore, pollock numbers are good along Northern Jeffrey’s Ledge and Tantas.

Striper anglers chasing bunker schools and slinging eels at night to find bigger bass, while offshore, pollock fishing has been very good out on Jeffrey’s Ledge.

Despite pogies moving offshore, anglers are still finding plenty of striped bass chasing mackerel schools.
