Central Precinct Renewal Program News Today

Craig Baudin from Fender Katsalidis is living out his passion for ambitious and complex urban design as the lead Australian architect behind Central Place Sydney. Baudin describes Central Place Sydney itself, which will take the form of two large commercial towers.

Yet the master plan pushes the proposed over rail deck hard up against Central’s southern perimeter, taking away its breathing space and showing it little regard. The dramatic level change between the station and the proposal is addressed by steep banks of stairs which lead up from the Grand Concourse, visually and physically disconnecting the station from the new precinct. The station is effectively reduced to a funnel for people.

Urban designer and architect Michelle Cramer has been announced as GHD’s Future Communities Lead, which will see her play a major role in creating connected, resilient, productive and inspired communities.
