While the cracks that have appeared in the buildings of Joshimath are widening, the administration has been facing the opposition of the affected people in the demolition drive.

Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana on Tuesday said buildings marked unsafe in Joshimath town will be demolished in a scientific manner, under the supervision of the team of experts from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee.

A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been deployed at the site where the demolition of two hotels will begin shortly.
