CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — Beginning in 1868, people all over the United States started the tradition of honoring those who died during war.

Broken Arrow Police say this year they have seen a 9.9 % increase in domestic violence calls for service and a 15 % increase in domestic violence reports compared to last year.

State defense forces (SDFs) are today's state militias. SDFs offer a vital, low-cost force multiplier and homeland security resource. Twenty-two states currently have volunteer state guard units.

Gary D. Gilmore, pastor of First Baptist Church, Marionville, and retired Missouri National Guard Senior Army Chaplain, was awarded, Nov. 18, with the highest award that a chaplain in the U.S. Army Chaplain Corp can receive.

Chief of Chaplains Maj. Gen. Thomas Solhjem addressed unit ministry teams during a potluck dinner hosted by the Garrison, Feb. 2 at Bicentennial Chapel. Ministry teams from around Redstone Arsenal gathered in the chapel’s fellowship hall for the ministry activity. Solhjem reflected on his career, offered them advice and expressed the importance of their maintaining connections with the people they serve. “The Army is shifting towards a policy of putting people first,” he said. â...
