The founder of Faith Community Health and My Neighbor’s Charitable Pharmacy has been named the 2023 Humanitarian of the Year by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.

As part of NCPA’s Month of Action, House Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) visited Asha and Ritesh Shah’s Charitable Pharmacy in Red Bank, N.J., on Monday to talk about the importance of access for the community’s most disadvantaged patients.

The area’s only charitable pharmacy has announced one of their staff members completed training to become a Certified Community Health Worker.

On this episode of Public Health Matters, Christina Madison speaks with Lydia Bailey, PharmD, BCACP, pharmacy operations manager for St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy in Cincinnati, Ohio about what charitable pharmacies are.

Previously, under Ohio law, the organization could only accept donations from nursing homes and other similar healthcare facilities.

Carol Risaliti, executive director of Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, said the organization plans to move into the new space before the end of the year.

From Crain's Akron Business: Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, which provides low-cost prescription medication assistance to uninsured and underinsured residents of Stark and Carroll counties, plans to spend more than $1 million to renovate the building. The new space will allow the nonprofit to expand its services.

The Ohio Department of Development has offered the county $500,000 to allocate to nonprofits for pandemic-related expenses.

The law, set to go into effect April 6, will allow charitable pharmacies to accept prescription drug donations from individuals.

The Board of Directors of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton has announced $1,773,340 in grants for the third and fourth quarters of 2022.
