Nigerian football followers were left bemused December 29, 2020 when reports emerged that Heartland FC, the Owerri-based Nigeria Professional Football League side, were stranded in Katsina, where they had gone to play their opening game of the 2020/21 season against Katsina United a day earlier.
COVID-19: More fans flout PTF order, attend NPFL games

Fans have continued to attend the Nigeria Professional Football League matches despite a directive by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 prohibiting them from match venues following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The PUNCH reported on January 12 that fans of Enyimba and MFM defied the order during match-day three, trooping to the Enyimba Stadium, Aba and the Agege Stadium for their matches against Wikki Tourists and Sunshine Stars respectively.
The LMC had after the report said they were going to investigate the flouting of COVID-19 protocols by the clubs.
