Heatwave conditions prevailed in most parts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday with many places sizzling between 38 to 41 degrees Celsius.

Chennai: In the upcoming days, the city is anticipated to experience a rise in day temperatures as dry weather conditions prevail. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts maximum temperatures reaching around 37°C, while the minimum temperatures are expected to be around 28°C. With the IMD warning of heat wave conditions for a few more days in Tamil Nadu, CM Stalin has asked district Collectors to take measures for better medical treatment of those affected by heat.

Chennai registered a maximum temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius at Meenambakkam on Tuesday, 4.3 degrees above the normal. At Nungambakkam, it was 41.8 degrees, 4.4 degrees above normal.

The IMD has predicted that Chennai will see mercury rising up to at least 40°C till May 19, Friday.
