You can apply for a new cheque book without hassle. All you need to do is dail up 1800 1234 or 1800 2100 for new Cheque Book through the banks Contact Centre.

Customers of SBI must first register their cheque-operated accounts for the Positive Pay System to access the service.

As per the new Positive Pay System, the issuer must electronically transmit certain information to the drawee bank via SMS, mobile banking, internet banking, ATMs, etc., such as the beneficiarys name, the date of issue, etc. Later, while processing payments, the details will be double-checked.
