Gainesway announced Feb. 24 that the first mares bred to Grade 1 winners Olympiad and Drain the Clock have been confirmed in-foal.

Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Olympiad has been retired to stand at stud at Gainesway Farm in Lexington, Ky.

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program announced this week that early estimate of funds raised during its Breeders’ Cup Pledge will be more than $140,000.

“I know how good (Flightline and Life Is Good) are, but I’m not going to rule (winning) out,” Bill Mott said of Olympiad.

Happy Saver did not train Wednesday morning because of a quarter crack in his left hind foot. The crack will be patched today and trainer Todd Pletcher hopes to make Saturday’s Classic.

Undefeated Flightline jogged once around a sealed, sloppy track shortly after 6 a.m. with assistant trainer Juan Leyva in the saddle.

Favorite Olympiad tracked pacesetter Tax for nearly a mile in the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) Saturday at Saratoga, then easily moved past nearing the stretch and powered away for the victory as runner-up Americanrevolution chased him home.

Grade 3 winner First Captain, exiting the first off-the-board finish of his career, will get an opportunity to rebound as well as give Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey his first victory in the historic $300,000 Pimlico Special (G3) Friday at Pimlico Race Course.
