A massive five-alarm fire in Brockton that caused minor injuries to three people and destroyed a home could have been even more devastating if it weren’t for fast reactions, according to the city fire chief and residents.

A neighbor who shared video of the fire with NewsCenter 5 said he was woken up by the brightness of the flames and the commotion going on outside of his home.

Flames tore through the second and third floors of the house, and firefighters had to use ground ladders to rescue five people from the third floor.

Firefighters rescued five people from the third floor of the multifamily home with ladders while two others were able to escape on their own.
