Firefighters discovered a large natural gas leak and a water leak at the building, but the cause of the collapse was not immediately known, Chief Carlsten said on Monday.

The frantic search continued Monday for more survivors in a partially collapsed six-story apartment building in Davenport, Iowa - where owners were under city orders to make upgrades.

There were no deaths reported but more than a dozen people were escorted out of the apartment building in Davenport and eight rescued. The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear.

It's the largest recruitment class in decades, according to Davenport Fire Chief Mike Carlsten.
