The US has asked South Korea to discourage its chipmakers from filling any gap in China if Micron is banned, following a cybersecurity review by CAC. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix were asked to hold back from boosting sales to China. The US has imposed export controls on chipmaking technology to China for fear it could be used for military purposes and blacklisted several Chinese chip firms, including Micron's rival Yangtze Memory Technologies.
