He was a republican. In his second midterm, the democrats held on to the house and his Republican Party lost the senate. George w. Bush. His second midterm in 2006. His Republican Party lost the house and lost the senate. Bill clinton was a democrat and his second midterm election, his Democratic Party did not lose the Senate Majority because it was not theirs to lose but they stayed in the minority in both the senate and the house.
