Jackets Drop Dual Meet to No. 16/11 Alabama

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming & diving hosted its second dual meet of the spring season, coming up short against SEC opponent No. 16/11 Alabama on Friday afternoon at McAuley Aquatic Center. The men fell 153-145, while the women lost 191-106. “Overall, I am very proud of the energy we brought to today’s meet,” said Toni M. and Richard L. Bergmark Swimming & Diving Head Coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “It was a lot of fun, especially leading into the relays. We had several great performances on the men’s side despite losing a close contest. Our women’s team gets to compete again tomorrow against Vanderbilt, and we are looking forward to using the momentum from today. Go Jackets!”

Recommended The women of Crimson Tide swept every swimming event, with Gracie Felner, Kensey McMahon and Rhyan White leading the way with two wins each. Felner won the 100 and 200 butterfly, McMahon dominated the 500 and 1,000 freestyles, while White won the 100 and 200 backstrokes. The men of Tide took first through fourth places in the 50 freestyle, with Sam DiSette leading. Matt King was just behind DiSette in second place, while Jonathan Berneburg and Colton Stogner took third and fourth respectively.

Men's Swim & Dive Ranked No. 19 by CSCAA – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. – Georiga Tech men’s swimming & diving was ranked No. 19 in the latest CSCAA national poll, announced by the association on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets were one of eight Atlantic Coast Conference teams featured in the top-25. No. 6 NC State, No. 8 Louisville, No. 10 Virginia, No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 15 Florida State, No. 18 Notre Dame, No. 19 Georgia Tech, No. 20 North Carolina and No. 21 Pittsburgh rounded out the ACC schools that made the cut. Tech has begun its 2021 spring schedule since the last slate of national rankings were released in December. Recently the Jackets dropped a close dual meet against No. 22 Auburn on Jan. 8, falling 145-117 to the Tigers, before the dive squad headed to Tallahassee for a diving exhibition versus Florida State.

Swim & Dive Releases Spring 2021 Schedule

THE FLATS – Highlighted by three home dual meets and one invitational the Georgia Tech swimming and diving program released the remainder of its 2020-21 schedule on Friday. “After a unique year we are excited to compete on multiple weekends in January,” said Toni M. & Richard L. Bergmark Swimming and Diving Head Coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “We had a fantastic fall and have been training hard all throughout December. We are looking forward to getting back to competing safely and under COVID-19 protocols established by the Institute and Atlantic Coast Conference.” Overall, the Yellow Jackets will host seven meets throughout the rest of the 2020-21 regular season, including its 2021 opener against Auburn in Atlanta on Jan. 8.
