Steven Pirko was found guilty of second degree murder in 2019 but the decision has been overruled

The BC Prosecution Service said Steven Pirko, who was convicted in 2020 of second-degree murder, has indicated to the court he will plead guilty on July 6 to manslaughter. 

The B.C. Court of Appeal has overturned the second-degree murder conviction of Steven Pirko for bludgeoning another man with a hammer in 2014, ruling that the trial judge “misdirected” the jury.
