Indiana Department of Environmental Management is asking for public on feedback on how to spend a federal climate grant.

The Biden administration announced Wednesday that it would be launching $4.6 billion in competitive grants to fund state, local, and tribal programs aimed at cutting climate pollution.

The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program, a two-phase initiative, provides grant funding to states, local governments, tribes, and territories to develop and implement plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution.

Kentucky’s state government will be unable to compete for $4.6 billion from the federal government to reduce heat-trapping greenhouse gasses because it is one of only four states that did not apply for up to $3 million to create a climate plan through a new grant program. 

Lehigh Valley Planning Commission will use the dollars to complete the work on a regional green infrastructure program supporting clean water, flood mitigation among other benefits.
