National Conservatism was first born in England, and in the Brexit referendum of 2016, it won its greatest victory since the end of the Cold War. Like the election of Donald Trump in the United States that same year, Brexit lifted the hopes and expanded the horizons of a more nationalist conservatism across the West. Unfortunately, Tories here, like the Republican Party back home, failed to harness that momentum and translate it into a reimagined governing agenda.
