Cold wave-like conditions have enveloped Kashmir, leading to a thin layer of ice forming on Dal Lake and other water bodies. The region is currently in the grip of "Chilla-i-Kalan," a 40-day harsh winter period marked by a cold wave, freezing temperatures, and a high likelihood of snowfall. Minimum temperatures dropped below minus 4 degrees Celsius in several areas, with Srinagar recording minus 5.4 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh School Timings Change Order, Weather Update Latest News: Given dense fog and cold wave conditions in Chandigarh, the timings of all government, aided, and private schools in the city have been changed. Now, the schools cannot open before 9:30 am and will have to close on or before 3 pm. As of now, the timings of the government schools are from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.
