Two years removed from winning the Class 3A 1,600-meter run at the CHSAA State Track and Field Championships, Resurrection Christian's Jackson Fagerlin was back on top of the Jeffco Stadium podium Saturday after winning the race a second time.

The 2024 CHSAA State Track and Field Championships will get running early Thursday morning with plenty of storylines involving local teams and athletes.

Thompson Valley’s boys cross country team has made significant strides over the past two seasons, led by a class of juniors that recently finished third as a team in a loaded field at the Class 4A state meet. While the Eagles have gotten important contributions from multiple runners on the team, one was the most consistent this season, eventually capping his junior year with a 13th-place finish at state.

Thompson Valley cross country coach Kris Christensen knew his boys team was capable of a top-three finish at this year's state meet way back in the summer. Saturday morning at the Norris Penrose Event Center, the Eagles proved their coach right.

With regional meets a week and half away, several local cross country teams and runners came home with some hardware over the weekend at their respective league meets.
