Jonathan Paluzzi, 44, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Plymouth District Court to two counts of animal cruelty and one count of possession of fentanyl, a Class A controlled substance.

Police say a bull-terrier mix named Brutus was stabbed multiple times with a set of grill prongs by a man who tried to kill the dog by giving it fentanyl.

Jonathan Paluzzi, 44, of Kingston, has been charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty and possession of a Class A drug, police said.

Police said the man killed the dog, a 60-pound Bull terrier mix named Brutus who was healthy, after he was unable to find anyone who would take it or have it euthanized.
