Cops seize RM100,000 cash, arrest man for online gambling

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized at least RM100,000 cash after arresting a man believed to be involved in an online gambling ring. Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said they conducted a raid at Taman Bukit Indah here at around 12.30am on Sunday (July 4). A team from Brickfields together with a gambling expert from City police headquarters as well as forensic officers from Bukit Aman were involved in the raid. We arrested a 41-year-old suspect and seized three mobile phones, RM100,000 cash and two computers which showed bets placed online using the two websites, he said in a statement Sunday.

Man blackmailed after making revealing video call to foreign woman

KUALA LUMPUR: A 24-year-old man was blackmailed after making a video call to a foreign woman where he indulged in an act of self-pleasure. Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said the incident occurred at around 9pm on Friday (July 2) when the complainant made the call to the woman he met over Tantan, a dating app. During the four-minute video call, both parties were nude and indulged in masturbation, he said in a statement on Sunday (July 4). He said about half an hour later, the complainant received a message demanding RM3,000 in cash. The suspect threatened to spread a video of the complainant if he refused to pay.

Penang cops checking with NSC if premises selling alcohol as part of business may operate

GEORGE TOWN: Police are in the process of getting clarification from the National Security Council (NSC) as to whether or not premises selling alcoholic beverages as part of their business are still allowed to operate. George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said based on the current standard operating procedures set by the NSC, stores that sell alcoholic beverages are not allowed to operate. “However, we are aware that there are stores that sell food and drinks alongside alcoholic beverages. “There are also supermarkets with alcohol sections. “We will obtain clarification from NSC on this,” he said when contacted on Friday (June 4).
