Dear goodness, autumn is beautiful around here. The leaves changing, the snow dusting our mountains, and the air is crisp. Keep a jacket handy, and enjoy a jaunt up Voltaire Canyon. Help celebrate community services as new names get added to the memorial outside the Marv Teixeira Pavilion.

The weekend is creeping closer and there are a few things worth getting excited about. The annual Reno National Air Races began yesterday and run through Sunday, if high-flying and death-defying gets your blood pumping.

Local authors, Sandie La Nae and Mary Randall will be book signing and selling their books at Comma Coffee, at the Carson City Wine Walk on Saturday, Dec. 6. Mary Randall writes childrens adventure books, and Sandie is an author of Historic-Paranormal writings. (Sandies books are supported by the Nevada Historical Society).

Kick up your heels, it’s finally Friday. World Dance Open Floor will be dancing for donations for CASI tonight at Comma Coffee. The Brewery Arts Center is hosting Mixed Company as part of its new Eclectic Electric series.

It’s Monday, but this week should fly by. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, so you probably want to start thawing your bird. There are still many organizations collecting food for families, so consider dropping off a frozen turkey at Salvation Army, or something non-perishable in one of the many bins around town.

The spring thaw has begun, and the event listing for the next few days is proof. There are quite a few options for music, art, theater, and more. Downtown offers live music at Westside Pour House and Bella Fiore, comedy at the Carson Nugget, and an Art Show for Carson High Senior, Erica Murray, at the Brewery Arts Center.

How adventurous are you? Ascent Runs continues their Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series with a five or ten kilometer run starting at Centennial Park. If you’d like a less strenuous outdoor activity, then the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk is a perfect choice.

It’s wine walk weekend, and depending on what kinds of days off you get, potentially the beginning of a four-day weekend. We will be celebrating the birthday of the United States of America on Tuesday, but there are some fun events to enjoy now. Catch the Parade of Trains at the Nevada State Railroad Museum or the RSVP Carnival at Mills Park.
