It goes back to 2018 when the voters of San Francisco passed proposition c to invest more resources into Early Childhood education and i want to acknowledge someone who isnt here but a leader in the effort and thats former supervisor norman yee, who did a really great job of focusing on child care and making sure we have support and resources. As a result, San Francisco has been able to do some transformative work and im really proud of it. We knew that there was a need to recruit and retain Early Childhooded educators and we have been able to provide increase in salaries with subsidies that lead to over 1600 early educators receiving raises of 12 thousand, which helps us with not only recruitment, it helps with retention.
