Geely sold 1.32m cars in 2020, expands China market share, maintains best-selling domestic brand status 7 January 2021 1:00 pm / 13 comments Geely has reported sales of 1,320,217 units in 2020 (including Lynk & Co), beating its 2020 revised annual target. The carmaker says that both its namesake brand and Lynk & Co have seen market share grow, and Geely retains its position as the best-selling Chinese brand for four consecutive years. The 2019 tally was 1,361,560 units, so it’s just slightly lower despite a virtual shutdown of China’s auto market in Q1 due to Covid-19. China has bounced back from the coronavirus and life there is pretty much normal these days, in contrast to many parts of the world. Geely will “focus on adjusting it product strategy” this year, and with new models on the way, its 2021 sales target is 1.53 million units, a 16% increase from 2020.

Geely Teases New CMA-Based Crossover, Goes Into Production Next Year

Geely has released official ‘spy photos’ of an upcoming crossover, which will go into production in the third quarter of 2021. The company is keeping details under wraps, but confirmed the model will ride on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) which underpins the Polestar 2, Volvo XC40 and an assortment of Lynk & Co vehicles. The platform is also used on Geely’s Xing Yue crossover coupe and Xing Rui sedan. While the pictures aren’t very revealing, the crossover sort of resembles a larger XC40. However, there are a number of differences including a unique front fascia, a flatter beltline and a longer rear overhang. We can see a panoramic glass roof and a grille with vertical bars.

Geely teases third CMA-based model - seven-seat KX11 SUV production to begin in third quarter of 2021

31 December 2020 12:05 pm / 0 comments Geely has released teaser images of its third CMA-based model, which will take the form of an SUV. Production of the future model, which is known internally as the KX11, is said to begin in the third quarter of 2021. The CMA platform, otherwise known as the Compact Modular Architecture, was jointly developed by Volvo and Geely under China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT). It currently underpins other Geely models like Xingyue and Xingrui, as well as five Lynk & Co cars, the Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2. Reports from China indicate the KX11 will be positioned close to Geely’s largest SUV, the Haoyue, with a similar length of around 4.8 metres and a wheelbase spanning 2.8 metres. Based on these figures, expect three rows of seats and a capacity for up to seven passengers.

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge First Drive: The Good, The Bad And The Efficiency

2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge First Drive: The Good, The Bad And The Efficiency ++ The XC40 is a great subcompact SUV, but is the Recharge a great EV? We had the opportunity to drive the 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge around northern New Jersey for a couple of hours to report our impressions of Volvo s first all-electric vehicle.  The Volvo XC40 Recharge (or, if you want its full name it s Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric P8) is the electric version of Volvo s very popular subcompact SUV.  The XC40 Recharge is all-wheel drive and powered by two 201 horsepower electric motors giving a total system output of 402 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque. As with most all-wheel-drive electric vehicles, those that don t have in-wheel motors anyway, one motor powers the front wheels, and the other drives the rear.
