There are more tax-delinquent properties than people in the Hopewell. That’s according to an announcement by Hopewell Treasurer Shannon Foskey, who says the city hasn’t received its due on at least 23,334 properties.

According to a release from the City of Hopewell, City Manager Concetta Manker named Gregory Taylor as Chief of Police after a three-month interview process. Taylor has been serving as interim Chief since Starke's retirement in April and also previously had a stint as interim Chief in 2018.

The plant, owned by AdvanSix, has been under a consent order with the EPA since February 2023, after numerous violations in which the company released carcinogenic pollutants like benzene, phenol and sulfur dioxide into Hopewell’s air. Since then it has had three more leaks.
