That prediction, down to 5, 10 miles one direction or another, is really really difficult. in fact, we wont be able to do it. thats why were so concerned. anybody in the cone needs to plan and prepare as if you are going to be having the hurricane-force conditions. that includes everywhere along the florida coastline, georgia coastline, and in towards the carolinas. thats towards friday by the time we see the storm up across the carolinas. a very long duration event, in the u.s., for us to be wa...

Difference in the eventual movement of these storms, literally thousands of parameters that were trying to measure and put into computer models to be able to get these tracks. a small change can cause that forecast track to nudge a little bit. thats why theres so much uncertainty. and we spend a lot of time talking about the actual cone because you look at the last five years, and thats the forecast error possible with that track. we try to communicate these uncertainties, and it does happen esp...
