The Supreme Court on Tuesday made it clear that the recognition of history and historical events is in the exclusive domain of Parliament, subject to the Constitutional validity of any such resultant actions.
The Court also asked how it would be possible to find out if corruption has taken place if donor details are hidden. "If confidentiality is given, how do we ensure that quid pro quo does not take place?" the Court asked.
When the matter was acknowledged by a seven-judge Constitution Bench, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal suggested that the matter be prioritised, while SG Tushar Mehta opposed the same.
The Court responded to submission of the NCPCR that there is no recognition of a same-sex couple to adopt since only heterosexual marriages provide stability for children.
"Are you truly representing the entire LGBTQIA community? There may be ones who want to preserve their religious choices," Justice Bhat asked during the hearing.
