The Supreme Court has asked a high powered committee headed by cabinet secretary to hold extensive consultations with the states to see what can be done about the various concerns on lack of benefits to same sex couples.
The observation was made in Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud's opinion, which was part of the minority verdict in the Constitution bench judgment delivered on Tuesday in the marriage equality case.
