Large protests entered their second day after Sudan witnessed a coup at dawn yesterday when the Sudanese military arrested Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and other civilian members of the government, announced a state of emergency, disbanded the Transitional Sovereignty council, and effectively seized power. According to the latest estimates, at least seven protestors were killed as security forces cracked down on the protests.

Sudanese across the country are preparing to take to the streets today in the Marches of Millions, as political divisions and divergences in demands and paths prevail. Marches have already begun in several cities and in Khartoum, where the streets leading to the General Command of the Armed Forces, as well as major bridges have been closed, amid a heavy deployment of police and other regular forces.
