Way people communicate now which is more by email than by snail mail. Let me pick up on something you touched on which is the issue of secrecy and the secrecy surrounding government requests hrough isps and the isp efforts in promoting transparency. Perhaps you could talk about that. Thank you for having me here today. Transparency is something that is really important to us. We think the current debate is lacking good data about the volume and nature of government requests which we think would help inform the broader debate about updating. Theres no question that government has legitimate interests in this data and legitimate needs. We also think our users in the broader public could benefit from good data about the nature and types of requests we receive. The types of data that we respond that we return in response and how we push back is important. There is a percentage of times where we will not give any date in response to a government request. Good evening, everyone. Im erin burnett. We begin outfront with the breaking news. The fbi and Homeland Security warning local Law Enforcement on guard for extremists reacting to an explosive report on the cias use of torture. That report issued today. Charges of the agencys enhanced interrogation techniques, that is what they call it, enhanced interrogation techniques, were more brutal than were previously stated and didnt work. You choose. Well, theres a lot to chew on this report. Basically, there are 20 conclusions from senator feinstein, the democrats on the intelligence committee, and republican susan collins. They basically say torture happened and go into detail about it. They say it was not effective, they make the case that it did not lead to actionable intelligence. Very disputed case, but they do make that case. They say that not only the public was misled, and not only congress, but the Bush Administration itself was misled with president bush not finding out about the details until 2006. And then they go into the descriptions of some of these quote, unquote, enhance

White house counselor Kellyanne Conway was, quote, counseled after she promoted ivanka trumps shoe line from the briefing room. They were talking about the clothes line, of course, after the president criticized nordstrom from dropping his daughters brand from what nordstrom said were declining sales. Were digging for more details on that story while the white house answers more questions about whether president Trumps Supreme Court nominee disapproves of the president s tweets attacking federal judges. The president is angrily disagreeing with that allegation. As you might expect the president s disagreement quickly got personal. Cnn White House Correspondent jim accosta joins me now. Jim, the wh
