Wakao Foods, a Goa-based plant-based meat company has exported its largest ever consignment of jackfruit plant-based meat to the United States.

The shipment is part of Indias growing export potential in the plant-based meat industry, which is projected to reach between Rs 2,194 crore to Rs 6,824 crore by 2030. Indias advantages in producing plant-based meat include its strong tradition of vegetarian food, a large and growing workforce, low wages, and abundant raw materials.

Rajesh Agrawal, chairman, Agricultural and Processed Foods Export Development Authority (Apeda) said, "Indias growing market for plant-based meat alternatives presents an opportunity to leverage the countrys crop biodiversity."
