OKLAHOMA CITY — Officials are celebrating a $500,000 federal grant that will help explore the feasibility of expanding Oklahoma’s existing passenger rail service into Kansas.

Advocates of restored or expanded passenger rail service believe it will connect small towns to urban centers and bring economic benefits to stops along the route.

A proposed high speed train in Minnesota is closer to reality thanks to funding MnDOT received last week.

"This shows that there is a demand for rail travel, and that we have to work harder at improving those services for folks," Frezell said.
