The Ashland Police Department chief, Tighe OMeara confirmed with NewsWatch 12 that the cougar has been shot and killed.

One mountain biker was injured after she and her fellow cyclists were attacked by a cougar, which they were able to pin down until wildlife agents arrived.

Officers removed one young cougar after an attack on five cyclists in Washington. They said they believe there may be a second one, but it has not yet been located.

A cougar attack in a wilderness area of Banff National Park on Monday has left one person with minor injuries.

“There has been an increased number of encounters between pets, people and cougars lately, which is unusual somewhat,” Renee Delorme, Bragg Creek Wild president, said.

Fish and Wildlife officials are reminding residents near Bragg Creek, Alta., that cougars see domestic cats and dogs are easy prey, and steps should be taken to protect those pets.

One of the women sustained lacerations to her face and had to be life-lighted to a nearby hospital.

The child survived the attack with minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation, the National Park Service said.
