The Mayor of Grantham, Councillor Dean Ward, hopes to raise awareness about the vital signs of a stroke after he was rushed to hospital with a blood clot on his brain last month.
Coun Ward was at home when he got up to use the bathroom in the early hours of Friday, January 8, and collapsed to the floor and lost bladder control.
His wife, Flo, quickly noticed that his speech had suddenly slurred and his face had drooped and immediately called for an ambulance, which rushed the councillor to Lincoln County Hospital.

Care home residents made cards and sent get well wishes to the Mayor of Grantham after he suffered a stroke recently.
Residents and staff at Red Court Care Community, on St Edmunds Close, Grantham, have spent their afternoons crafting cards for Councillor Dean Ward who is recovering at home after an operation.
Throughout the pandemic Red Court has received a number of fantastic donations from members of the community and as a way of thanking Grantham, residents and staff wanted to give something back as they know from direct experience that kind words and gestures go such a long way.

The Mayor of Grantham, Councillor Dean Ward, is in hospital after suffering a stroke.
Coun Ward is believed to have suffered the stroke over the weekend and was taken to the Queen s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he was treated for a blood clot on the brain.
Coun Ward posted about his ordeal on his Facebook page over the weekend.

He said: Wasn t expecting this. Massive stroke. Blood clot on the brain. They sorted it quick so no long-term side effects. They gave the clogged up arteries a good clean and fitted a stent. I should be out soon.
