Eighteen Senate Republicans voted in support of the Electoral Count Act in the omnibus spending bill that passed the upper chamber on Thursday, rebuking former President Donald Trumps actions back in 2021.

The U.S. House voted to approve a sweeping $1.7 trillion government spending package that carries along with it dozens of new initiatives.

The massive bill will fund critical government operations across federal agencies and provide emergency aid for Ukraine and natural disaster relief.

The nearly $1.7 trillion government funding package boosts defense and domestic spending and includes more than $44 billion in emergency aid to Ukraine.

The bill now heads to the House.

The House committee investigating the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, is expected to release its final report Thursday.

Once the House passes the bill it will be sent to President Joe Biden to be signed into law.

Year-end legislation needs approval from 10 Senate Republicans to pass.
