fox news at night. and breaking tonight, the results are astounding. a california school district, where just one out of 20 kids can do math at grade level, says the answer to low test scores is to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money on, quote, woke kindergarten, a program that advocates getting rid of everything from police to whiteness to israel. but instead of boosting performance, the program has done the exact opposite. bill melugin is reviewing the numbers and the curriculum he s live with more on what he found good evening. good evening to you. it s pretty wild, this elementary school is up in the bay area and spent a quarter million dollars in federal money for what is being called a woke program to try and boost their low test scores but all that ended up happening is their test scores fell even further. so take a look. this is glass brook elementary school, a predominately low-income school with mostly minority students. years ago it was strug
and the consequence of that is it means we have much lower home ownership rates among african-americans, and that central way that middle class families build wealth, the way that a family buys a house and pays a little every month and eventually owns this asset that appreciates, that has just been undercut for african-americans. and so the way i see this is this is why you put a cop on the beat. you put a cop on the beat to say the law is clear, housie housing laws have been out there and fair credit laws have been out there for as long and we say, you know, that is the deal. the last is clear, you can t charge african-americans more than you charge whites. you can t turn them down at higher rates. it should all be about the credit, not about the color of your skin.
worrying about private do nations. next, the republicans are attacking the justice department for filing a lawsuit against arizona over the state s controversial immigration law. moments ago senate republican leader mitch mcconnell released a statement saying soon the people of arizona attempting to do a job the federal government has utterly failed to execute will not help secure our borders. it will use preemption over state legislation to make the case that enforcing immigration law is a federal responsibility. quick history lesson. on preemption in 2004, george w. bush officially preempted national banks from state laws regulating mortgage credit. he argued that banks should only be subject to federal credit laws. so, matt, i assume you re in favor of preemption because it worked for george bush and protecting the big banks. you obviously agree, right? i have a nuance for you.
