I was an intern when i observed dr. c. walton carry out the first cross-circulation case. i made an illustration of that first operation -- at least of the defect in the little boys heart, put it in the patients chart. he didnt know me, seeing that illustration he invited me into his lab and thats when the pacemaker was developed. it was just a great opportunity for me. it was an amazing time and amazing procedure, but i had no idea where it would take us over the next 60 years. well, i spent my...
